Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

There are always questions! Please call us with any concerns, but here are some of the things were are often asked, which may help.

What time do we need to leave the bothy on our departure day?

In order for us to clean and restock for the next guests we ask that you leave by 10.00am on the morning of your departure.

We are worried that we will arrive late, how can we collect the key?

We will leave the key in a safe, locked box in case we are unable to be there on your arrival. We will email you the combination for the key safe on confirmation of your booking.

What do we need to bring?

We aim to provide all the basics you need:

Toilet rolls, bedding, towels, cooking equipment, bread, milk, eggs, tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, plates and cutlery, hand soap and usb charging points. If you have any specific needs call and we can discuss whether we can provide them or whether you will need to bring them with you.

Can we bring our young baby?

Small babies are welcome but we do not provide a cot or any specific baby equipment. There is a wood burning stove at a low level making it unsuitable for little ones on the move.

How bad are the midges?

The Highlands are famous for these wee beasties. Like anywhere on Skye we have a few but we rarely find them to be an issue as we are by the sea and the breeze keeps them at bay. We recommend that you have some ‘Smidge’ with you. You can buy it locally or on Amazon. Also, it’s a good idea to keep windows and doors shut whilst they are about to save having to sleep with them at night!
