About us

We, Clive and Penny, decided to offer something a little different to the many pods, shepherd huts and cabins on the Isle of Skye… and converted the garage we already had into a modern, light, bright studio apartment.

Clive has done all the building work, and it has been created with the comfort and convenience of guests in mind.

Taigh na Cùil is situated on the Sleat peninsula, and over looking the sea and the mainland beyond. Sleat is known as The Garden of Skye and is generally a little more sheltered. Because of this there is an abundance of trees, as well as mountains and the sea.

Just moments up the road is Isle Ornsay, one of the jewels of this peninsula, with a natural harbour where many yachts moor on the summer, and where the local pub and distillery can be found. In the opposite direction is the gorgeous Kinloch Lodge, famous for its cosy hotel and amazing food. Down the road, towards the ferry at Armadale, there is a new distillery at Torabhaig, which is opening for the first time this year. For those who love wildlife there are golden eagles that circle above the bothy, white tailed sea eagles flying over Ord, just the other side of the Sleat peninsula, deals just around the corner and, if you are really lucky, the otters may make an appearance down at the beach. It sounds gorgeous, and it is!

In less than three minutes you can walk down to the beach from the bothy. There you can enjoy an uninterrupted view across The Sound of Sleat to Knoydart and the entrance to Loch Hourne.

We have lived here for just over a year and love it. We share The Bungalow with our three dogs and our cat, Sid. Clive is a heating engineer and Penny a portrait and wedding photographer ( Penny Hardie Photography ). If you would like to book a photoshoot or some photographic tuition please let us know on the contact form.
